American actor and choreographer Columbus Short, known for his work in ABC drama Scandal, has tested positive for cocaine and marijuana use and is facing a probation violation in a felony assault case.

According to the reports, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge was informed about the test results on Thursday and subsequently scheduled a court date for the actor on May 9.

Short, who pleaded no contest to assault in September when he punched someone in a fight at a family gathering in March 2014, was sentenced to three years of administered probation, community service and an anger management counselling.

The actor, although, did finish his anger management counseling, but has not so far finished his community work.

Short’s attorney Ludlow B. Creary II said, 'Short has already addressed his drug use, and I hope he will complete his probation and get on with his career.'

'It’s our belief that Mr. Short is going to continue to make progress',The lawyer continued.

The star, however, had accepted that his cocaine use and drinking had caused many problems including his departure from the successful show Scandal.
