Alan O’Neill, Sons of Anarchy star,  has died at the age of 47, multiple sources have confirmed. According to TMZ, the late actor's dead body was found by his girlfriend in the hallway of her Los Angelas apartment on Wednesday, June 6.

The outlet reports that Alan had suffered heart problems and had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. He also used to smoke regularly.

Alan's death was confirmed by his former agent, Annette Walsh's statement on Thursday, June 7.

He stated,

It’s with sadness I confirm the passing of Alan O Neill, a brilliant funny and kind human being. My thoughts are with his partner family and children at this time.  I’ll personally miss knowing Alan isn’t sharing the planet with us any longer, despite the miles between L.A. and Dublin. Alan was only ever a phone call away. May he rest in peace.

Celebrities took to social media on Thursday, June 7, in order to pay tribute to Alan.

Alan's former colleague, Timothy V Murphy, who portrayed Galaan on the show, shared a tweet, writing,

My good friend Alan O’Neill died [yesterday] … we worked together on The Sons of Anarchy. My condolences to his family.

Additionally, Kristen Renton, who played Ima Tite on the series, wrote, “RIP sir… [may] you find peace now.”

Alan's passing comes just a month after his Sons of Anarchy co-star David Labrava’s son, Tycho Spells Chiusano, 16, died by an apparant suicide following a long battle with depression.

Sons of Anarchy ran for seven seasons starting in 2008 and ending in 2014 but Alan’s character, Hugh, appeared on a seven-episode arc from 2013 to 2014.

Before working on the FX series, he appeared on Irish television show Fair City from 2006 to 2012.
