Ben Selecman, the son-in-law of country music star Alan Jackson, has died on Wednesday, September 12 after sustaining traumatic head injuries following a fall in a boat accident, multiple sources have confirmed.
Ben had been working as an assistant district attorney for the Davidson County District Attorney's Office, and according to the office, he got severe injuries after falling when he was helping a woman onto a boat in Florida. He was 28.
Ben's death was confirmed by The District Attorney's office to Taste of Country. It send a note that reads,
The District Attorney’s Office is saddened to announce the passing of Assistant DA Ben Selecman ... District Attorney Glenn Funk said the DA’s Office is thankful for every day that Ben had the opportunity to serve the people of Davidson County. Our prayers are with Ben’s family. He will be truly missed.
Glenn Funk, a Davidson County District Attorney, said Thursday, "He was really a rising star and I'm sick that we lost him, but I'm grateful for every day that he worked for us because he was great".
He says the DA’s office is "thankful for every day that Ben had the opportunity to serve the people of Davidson County. Our prayers are with Ben’s family. He will be truly missed."
Ben was married to Alan's eldest daughter, Mattie Jackson Selecman, also 28, who Alan shares with his wife Denise. They tied the knot in October 2017 in Franklin after meeting at a mutual friend's wedding.
Mattie is a Nashville native who previously owned Salt & Vine in Sylvan Heights, which closed its service in June.
