Talking about the matter, Mr. Bentley said, "I have decided it is time for me to step down as Alabama’s governor,” however, he did not mention any charges to which he was found guilty or the agreement with prosecutors that mandated his resignation.

According to the report from the Alabama House judiciary committee, Mr. Bentley has been claimed to have an inappropriate relationship with TV reporter, Rebekah Caldwell Mason and has also been accused of encouraging an atmosphere of intimidation to hide the scandal, which finally became the reason behind his resignation.

However, the former governor denied the allegation and insisted that his relationship with Rebekah was never physical.

But when asked about the matter to the security personnel, they confirmed that they had seen her leaving the governer's office with her hair tousled and her clothing in disarray.

Likewise, their relationship status was further proved to be of sexual nature after the investigator found the text message in Rebekah's phone that said: "You handsome, wonderful, amazing, delicious, funny, sweet man."
