A Woman, 22, Accuses French Actor Gerard Depardieu of Rape and Sexual Assault

One more sexual misconduct allegation added to the film industry! A woman of age 22 has accused French actor Gérard Depardieu of rape and sexual assault, multiple sources have confirmed.

According to French newspaper Le Parisien reports, the woman, who is a comedian and dancer by profession, claims the Valley of Love star assaulted her on August 7 and August 13 at his home in Paris.

The official told the  Associated Press that she filed a complaint on Monday, August 27, and the Paris prosecutors have been working on the case since on Wednesday, August 29.

According to the Associated Press, Gerard’s attorney, Herve Temime, told BFM TV that the French actor, who is one of the most prolific character actors in film history, “absolutely denies any rape, any sexual assault, any crime.”

He further told the news channel that Gerard, 69, was “shocked” by the claims made against him.

He said, "I have strong elements to show that no offense took place".He further claimed that the crime was “the opposite” of the personality of his client, adding, "I regret that this investigation was not kept secret as usual".

Depardieu, who has completed over 170 films since 1967 and has more than 234 acting credits, was nominated for an Oscar Award in 1991 for his role in Cyrano de Bergerac. In the following year, he took home a Golden Globe Award for his performance in Green Card.

His other notable movies are The Man in the Iron Mask, Danton, The Count of Monte Cristo and 1492: Conquest of Paradise.
