A Washington State boy of age 4 found a loaded gun under a mattress and shot his pregnant mother in the face in an apartment on Saturday, February 2.
According to a spokesman for King County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Ryan Abbott, the woman, 27, who is eight months pregnant, was watching television with her boyfriend when her son found the gun. The shot was unintentional.

The woman was first rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and one day later on Sunday, February 3, she was transferred to another hospital when her condition improved.
The gun reportedly was unregistered. As per the report, the boy’s father told authorities that he borrowed the firearm for protection. Authorities are investigating the case.
According to new state law, gun owners could face criminal charges for storing a gun unsafely. However, Ryan noted that the law will only effect since July.
The unborn baby's condition was not reported.
