American rapper Nipsey Hussle is no more, but he still lives in the heart of many, especially among people in the Crenshaw District. In fact, the locals have built a basketball court with his image across 78 feet of pavement as his memorial.
The public court outside the Crete Academy charter school is just a few blocks away from the spot where the rapper was murdered. As a homage to the late rapper, the image was created by an artist named Gustavo Zermeno.
The ribbon cutting event was organized by Venice Basketball League's CEO, Nick Ansom, on Sunday, April 14.
During the inauguration, Ansom talked about the rapper and said that the court was a way to show Nipsey respect for all the works he has done for the community.
Well, the ribbon cutting at 3 PM on Sunday was followed by a high school showcase at 4 PM and an All-Star game at 5 PM.
The rapper was reportedly killed on March 31, 2019, in Los Angeles, California, United States, in front of his Marathon Clothing store. He was 33 years of age.
