A New Jersey Man Arrested and Charged With Murder of Nanny

A New Jersey man, namely Jorge Rios, 33, was arrested and charged with the murder of nanny, Carolina Cano, 45, who was found dead in near a park where she used to stay after going for a jog.

The suspect was taken into custody on Sunday, March 31, in the murder of the nanny. According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the body of the victim was dumped in a lake at Jersey City’s Lincoln Park.

The 33-year-old was charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and murder. Further details about the arrest will be available following further investigation.

Carolina's roommate told NBC New York, that she went for a jog about 5:30 a.m. last week but never returned home.

Authorities found her body By 7:30 a.m. in the park’s lake which is not far from where she lived. She was pronounced dead two hours after being discovered.

The roommate told the news station,

She was a working woman, a good woman. She didn’t bother anyone. She was a woman that was always with God, that’s how she lived. She was really a beautiful woman. She had a very beautiful heart.

The medical examiner found marks around the neck of the victim. The marks indicated that she was strangled.

Carolina was from Peru and lived in her Jersey City apartment for two years. Jorge is also from Jersey City.
