A Florida man, namely Brian Harting, 48, was arrested on Sunday, February 17, after he shined a laser light at a Pinellas County Sheriff’s office helicopter which was circling over the area to observe a controlled fire, authorities have confirmed.
The suspect admitted to pointing the red laser at the helicopter. He claimed he didn't know it pointing the device was an illegal act.

However, as per the report, deputies found the laser light had a warning sticker that read, "Never aim at aircraft".
Harting was charged with the felony misuse of a Laser Lighting Device. According to Fox 13 News report, he is being held on a $25,000 bond.
He was previously taken into the custody after he posted bond on a heroin possession charge. He was recently released from jail.
