The former Disney star Alyson Stoner, best known for her role in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Cheaper by the Doze recently spilled the beans of her sexuality.
Alyson, 24, revealed her sexuality in an emotional essay for Teen Vogue on Friday, March 30, describing her feelings for a woman. She penned down her experience of falling in love with a woman, who she met at a dance workshop.
There she was, wearing loose jeans and a backward snapback,
she wrote to Teen Vogue.
She flipped and rolled her body around with adventure and total abandon. As a Type A perfectionist, I was mesmerized and intimidated.
She and I continued to hang out and began sending good morning texts. Then we made dinner and watched Orange Is the New Black.
Then we vented and supported each other. Then cuddled. Then kissed and kissed some more. OK, we were in a relationship. I fell in love with a woman.
Their relationship wasn't always a blissful thing. Alyson shared she spent years trying to understand her same-sex attractions.
I had internalized some of the harmful beliefs and misconceptions about LGBTQ people and identities. At the time, I thought... Maybe it’s because I’ve experienced abuse from men and therefore I’m scared of intimacy with them (and in general).
Maybe it’s because open sexuality is prevalent in my artistic community and I subconsciously just want to fit in. Maybe I actually want to be her, and I’m mistaking idolization for romance. Anything besides being gay, please!
The Step Up (2006) actress continued some of the people from the entertainment industry warn her not to open-up for it could harm her career then onwards yet she accepted who she is. However, she specifically didn't level her sexuality at the end!
I, Alyson, am attracted to men, women, and people who identify in other ways. I can love people of every gender identity and expression. It is the soul that captivates me.
It is the love we can build and the goodness we can contribute to the world by supporting each other’s best journeys.
