Very exciting news today! We are thrilled to announce that we have secured the rights with our long term partners at New Line/Warner Bros. to develop the first ever worldwide theatrical film for none other than one of the most beloved and recognizable icons around the globe - Hello Kitty! Hello Kitty was first designed in 1974 and has since exploded into a cultural phenomenon over the past four decades. She can be found in over 130 countries around the world on over 50,000 different products a year!We have been passionately pursuing these rights for almost five years now, including numerous trips to Tokyo. Over that time we have grown very close to our partners at Sanrio, and we are humbled and honored that President Tsuji, who founded the company over 40 years ago, has entrusted us with bringing her story to the big screen around the world. With the positive values of friendship, kindness and tolerance that Hello Kitty embodies, in addition to her message of “Small Gift, Big Smile,” there has never been a better time than now to share her story with the world. Can’t wait to get started and bring you all a visually dazzling, (hopefully) groundbreaking, and entertaining time at the movies! #HelloKitty #SmallGiftBigSmile #ConceptCharacterHeart (Link to @nytimes article in our bio) . @sanrio @hellokitty @newlinecinema @wbpictures @rbpix @carblackwood @dariacercek @ms.wendyjane
