She is popular in the world for being an anchor of the ABC's Good Morning America. Former sportscaster of ESPN, Robin was born as Robin Rene Roberts in Tuskegee, Alabama, United States of American on the laps of Lucimarian Tolliver and Lawrence E. Roberts. Her late father Lawrence was a pilot with the Tuskegee Airmen. She is an American.

Robin is a lesbian. From 2005, she has been having same sex relationship with Amber Laign. Amber Laign is a massage therapist. At the end of 2015, she was also honored as one of the 31 Icons of 2015's LGBT History Month.

As a child, Robin was active in several sports. When she was in Pass Christian High School, she used to play sports like basketball and tennis. She graduated from there in 1979 and then she joined Southeastern Louisiana University. After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication in 1983, she joined WDAM-TV and began serving them as a sports anchor and reporter. Next year, she joined WLOX-TV and then from 1986, she began working as a sports anchor and reporter at WSMV-TV. She joined ESPN with the start of 1990. There she worked as a sportscaster.

In 2007, Robin was diagnosed with breast cancer. On 3rd of August 2007, she underwent a surgery for breast cancer and it was successfully eradicated. Later in 2012, she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome.
