Peter Killian Gallagher (born August 19, 1955) is an American writer, actor and musician. He is well known for his role as Sandy Cohen in the television drama series The O.C. from 2003 to 2007. He was born in Manhattan, New York City, United States of America to Mary Ann, she was a bacteriologist and Thomas Francis Gallagher, Jr., and he was an advertising executive. His birth name was Peter Killian Gallagher. He has two siblings Joan Gallagher and Paul Gallagher. He is the youngest among them. He is from Irish Catholic background and he grew up in Armonk, New York.

Peter is a married man and a humble spouse to his wife. He married Paula Harwood on 7 May 1983. They are still together. They have two children together named James and Kathryn. Besides this, he is not involved in any kind of extra marital affairs and he is not rumored to be dating any other girlfriend. He started his acting career in 1980 and his debut film role was as one of the co-stars in the 1980 film, The Idolmaker. He also appeared on Broadway with Glenn Close in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing. He career rose into prominence when he played his role in Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989). He was also considered for the role of Ethan in Supergirl (1984) but he didn't appear in it. In 2004, he attended the Best in Drag Show in Los Angeles which raised money net worth $150,000 for AIDS afflicted. It is expected that he is earning a huge salary from his acting career.
