After she began her acting career in Australian television and film, she first became widely popular for her critically acclaimed work on the HBO television series "In Treatment". She was born in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia to photographer parents; mother Marzena Wasikowska and father John Reid. Her mother is Polish and her father is an Australian of British ancestry. She also has an older sister, Jess, and a younger brother, Kai. When she was eight, her family moved to Poland for a year.
