Jurgen Klopp Biography
Jurgen Norbert Klopp well known as Jurgen Klopp is a former professional football player and famous German manager, who is currently the manager of Premier League club Liverpool. He was born on 19th June 1967 in Stuggart, Germany to the father, Norbert Klopp, and mother, Elizabeth Klopp. He has two elder sisters Isolde Reich and Stefanie Klopp. His nationality is German, and his ethnicity is white. Klopp spent most of his childhood in Villiage of Glatten. As a child, his dream was to become a professional player as well as a football manager. He graduated in sports science degree and did his thesis on walking from Goethe University at Frankfurt.
Jurgen Klopp before serving as a manager was a great footballer, started his career as a junior player, playing for TuS Ergenzingen. Klopp was a striker turned defender when he represented his club Mainz 05 for 15 years. Until his retirement, for his team, he scored 52 goals.
During Jurgen's time at the University, he coached U10 formerly known as Frankfurt D-Juniors. After his retirement, he was appointed as the manager of the club Mainz 05 for which he played much during his professional career. He remained a manager for many years; during his time with the club, he led the team to participate in Bundesliga and to qualify for UEFA Cup.
In 2008, Klopp joined Borussia Dortmund. At that time, his team had players like Christian Mate Pulisi and Mario Gotze, Klopp led the side to two consecutive title wins in 2011/12, DFB Pokal in 2012, DFL Supercup in 2013/14; as well as the team second appearance in UEFA Champion League Final of 2013 edition.
For his stellar and impressive contribution to his club, Borussia Dortmund, he was awarded the Best German Football Manager for the year 2011/12 season. His time as a manager for the club Borussia Dortmund was longest the club has had in their history.
Following his successful stint at the club, he was appointed as the manager of Liverpool FC club in October 2015. He is the second German after Felix Magath, who took the position of a manager of an English Club. For his impressive managerial skills and tactics, he was voted as Premier League Manager of the Month in 2016.
Jurgen Klopp has been married twice; he married his first wife Sabine and they gave birth to a son, Marc, who is a professional German footballer, played for several clubs of German Bundesliga until his retirement.
Their marriage didn't last, long and he divorced his first wife in 2001. He met his second girlfriend and current wife Ulla Sandrock, who is a children's writer and social worker by profession. The couple first met at Oktoberfest celebration during fall 2005.
Jurgen Klopp's spouse is also divorcee like Klopp; she too has a son from her first marriage. He had serious allegation slammed against him over an affair he had with a player’s wife when he was involved with the German club Borussia Dortmund.
He later announced that he was not having any relationship with anyone when he was with the club and addressed the gossip at a press conference when many suggested that he quit the club due to his personal life.
Despite being charismatic figure and having a clean-cut, good-guy image to the public and the fans, Jurgen Klopp has a fair share of bad moments in the football field to show his human sides like anger, frustration, and disappointment. He often displays his emotions on the field like when he shouted at waterboy during a premier league match, his decision-making skills were under severe scrutiny by the press and media.
His behavior came under dispute by media and fans of Liverpool to name a few; former Liverpool forward Stan Collymore accuses Kloop as ”spiteful and completely unprofessional” over his decision of not selecting several key players in league decisive games.
Klopp maintains cool and calm demeanor attitude such behaviors caught the eye of many brands and endorsers which see him a worthy marketer. The brand he represented and endorsed are Opel, Puma, Volksbanken-Raiffeisen bank.
According to Trade magazine, Horizont and Wirtschaftswoche helped Kloop to boost car sales for the struggling Opel brand. He is the brand ambassador for the anti-racism German campaign “Respect! Kein Platz Fur Rassismus" (“Respect! No space for Racism”). He was the brand ambassador for the android game Football Empire, he is seen as the manager and playable figure as a manager in the Android game.
He even works as a commentator on the German television network ZDF, giving his views and his own takes on German National Side. He worked as a match analyst in World Cup and EURO of 2006 and 2008 respectively, where he received the Deutscher Femsehpreis in the category of the best show in October 2006.
As, of 2018, his networth is estimated to be $30 million. He is among top 10 highest paid football managers in the world; he earns around $9 million a year as a salary from Liverpool FC. In 2015, Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool FC moved into Manson that Brendan Rodgers, former coach has bought from former England midfielder, Steven Gerrard. The multi-million dollar mansion has a market rental value of around $16,000 a month.
He currently drives an Insignia car, manufactured by Opel that he endorsed. He wears an IWC Pilot Chronograph watch worth $5,500. He loves wearing shades, and he is a big fan of Oakley’s brand of shades and glasses, particularly its Junkyard model. Currently, he uses Ray-Ban’s greyish RX6295 model that can be seen during the games.
