Frances Conroy Biography
Sixty-four years, beautiful and extremely versatile actress Frances Hardman Conroy is professionally known as Frances Conroy. She is widely recognized for portraying the role of Ruth Fisher on the TV series, “Six Feet Under” for which she has won Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress, and as well as playing the older version of the character Moira O’Hara on Season one of the TV series American Horror Story.
France Conroy is a native of Monroe, Georgia, born to Ossie Hardman and Vincent Paul Conroy. Her father was business executive of Irish descent and her mother also served in a business sector.
Conroy attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and later moved to New York City to study drama at the Neighborhood Playhouse and the Juilliard School.
Frances professionally started her acting career during the 1970s, with regional and tour companies, and appeared as Desdemona at the Delacorte Theatre in a production of "Othello" with Raul Julia and Richard Dreyfuss.
Her debut movie was the Woody Allen’s 1979 classic, Manhattan; appeared as a Shakespearean. In the following year, she appeared in Edward Albee’s "The Lady From Dubuque".
Conroy mainly focused on her stage career from 1980 to 2000. During that time, she appeared in productions of "The Ride Down Mt. Morgan", "The Little Foxes", and "Our Town".
