Elie Wiesel was a Romanian-born American Jewish writer, professor, political activist, Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor. In 1944, during the World War II Europe became a battled field. During the time, he along with his family and other Jewish residents of his town was taken to the prisons and placed in confinement ghettos.

1955

In 1955, Wiesel moved to New York as a foreign correspondent for the Israel daily, Yediot Ahronot. He published the English version of his memoir, ‘Night’ in 1960, which was first gained a very low popularity, however, later after some favorable reviews it succeeded to won thousands of hearts.
