He is famous for starring the role of William "Whip" Whitaker Sr. in an American drama film Flight. Tall and talented, Denzel Washington was born Denzel Hayes Washington, Jr. in Mount Vernon, New York, United States of America to Denzel Hayes Washington, Sr. and Lennis "Lynne" (née Lowe). His father was a Pentecostal minister.

While Denzel was on the set of the TV movie Wilma, he met love of his life Pauletta Washington. Pauletta Washington is also an actress. They got married on 25th of June 1983. As a loving husband and wife, they welcomed their first son John David Washington in 1984. His nationality is American and he is of black ethnicity.

Denzel received his primary education from Pennington-Grimes Elementary School. He studied there till 1968 and then he joined Oakland Military Academy. In 1970, he got enrolled at Mainland High School. After his high school graduation, he joined Fordham University and he finally earned his B.A. in Drama and Journalism in 1977.
